State Hospitals in the TRNC

State hospitals form the backbone of emergency medical care in Northern Cyprus. In urgent situations, treatment is available through state hospitals to everyone on the island, regardless of nationality, residency status, or insurance arrangements.
Ambulance services operate in coordination with government hospitals. As a result, emergency cases are taken to public hospitals even if a person holds private or travel insurance linked to a private clinic.
For residents, the compulsory health insurance associated with a residence permit is also used within the public healthcare system, meaning medical treatment under this scheme is provided at state hospitals.
While these hospitals may appear modest in terms of buildings or facilities, they are equipped with modern medical systems, are regularly assessed and overseen by the Ministry of Health, and are capable of delivering comprehensive emergency care.
Because public hospitals are the primary point of treatment in emergencies, it is strongly recommended to keep their contact details saved and easily accessible.
